So, I’ve just heard the news that Paris Hilton is already out of jail and on house arrest after serving only a few days of her already incredibly short sentence, and so she should be I say!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the age old concept dictating that if you break a law, you should be punished. It’s just common sense, or at least it should be.
Yes, if you ‘do tha crime’ you should ‘do tha time’, but shouldn’t the time actually be justified to the crime? I mean, there’s old ladies in this country being sent to prison, TO PRISON FER CRYIN’ OUT LOUD, for not paying their council tax in protest at the cost of it, whilst the real, vindictive criminals out causing assaults and muggings and what not get nothing more than a smacked arse and ‘rehabilitation.
It’s all a bit crazy, as is the case with poor old Paris and her jail conviction. OK, so she should not have been driving whilst banned, she broke the law, she deserves to be punished. But prison, seriously folks, come on, is banging the girl up for a month with all kinds of special treatment really worth the effort? Is it actually going to teach her anything? IS IT BOLLOCKS!!!
If you really want to punish her, be sensible. She didn’t actually hurt anyone, OK she could have, but she didn’t, and shouldn’t jails be reserved for the real scumbags, the real arseholes who actually cause hurt and damage to innocent people. If you really want to punish Paris for simply being a bit ditzy, FINE HER A FUCKING FORTUNE! The girl’s loaded for fuck’s sake.
Take away all her money, or at least a chunk of it, and if the issue here is really about the fact that she could have hit somebody rather than just making an example, albeit not very well, out of a celebrity, then GIVE THAT MONEY TO VICTIMS OF CAR CRASHES OR WHAT HAVE YOU.
Don’t get me wrong, whilst the lads in the band quite literally sing Hilton’s praises, I’m not her biggest fan, but I really don’t believe she should not have been sent to jail.
After all, if all that is needed to be sent to jail these days is simply to be a bit dosile, then we’re all completly fucked my friends, and that’s when there really will be a prison-crowding crisis.
