Searching Through the Favourites: Say no to 0870

October 31, 2007

By now, most of you probably know about this site already, but I figured it was worth another mention anyway.

Why? Because it’s fantastic. Seriously, if there were some kind of Official Internet Top 40, much in the same way that Radio 1 has their official Top 40 Singles Chart, then Say No to 0870 would surely rank up in the top ten somewhere.

So what is it?

Well, you know how companies are always asking you to ring over-expensive phone numbers to reach their customer care or similar departments? Say no to 0870 lists a good many of those numbers, and the cheaper alternatives.

Why call your bank on a pound-a-minute landline when you can simply ring their general landline number for much, much less?

Searching Through The Favourites

October 20, 2007

So, I’ve decided on a new little feature for my blog. I’ll call it ‘Searching Through The Favourites’ and it will do pretty much exactly as it says on the tin: I’ll search through my Favourites list, pick out a great site and write about it here.

I’m not sure what’s possesed me to do this, but I think it has something to do with me wanting to become a more active blogger yet not actually having much to say. Plus there’s also the rather altruistic reason of wanting to share some of my favourite sites with the rest of Cyberland.

So for the first ‘Searching Through The Favourites’ feature, we’ll take a look at Kissthisguy.com

I can’t tell you enough about how much I love this site, it’s almost certain to have you pissing your sides with laughter for hours.

And no, before you ask, it isn’t some dodgy site where blokes kiss other blokes, the title is taken from a commonly mis-heard lyric in Jimmi Hendrix’s ‘Purple Haze’.

Which is what the site is all about; not Jimmi Hendrix, or Purple Haze, but mis-heard lyrics.

Basically, people post up the real  lyrics to songs, followed by their own mis-heard interpreations, and the resulsts are often hillarious.

I know my biggest lyrical mis-interpretation was in Meatloaf’s epic rock-opera ‘Bat out of Hell’. Whilst most people would sing about a ’silver black phantom bike’, I thought Meatloaf was confessing to being a motorcycling lover of an annoying scouse woman. After all, why else would he sing ‘I’m a Cilla Black fan on a bike’.

 I ask you.
